Chen Mo, a low-level jade digger in Hotan, struggles to earn money for his critically ill mother's medical bills. He braves the Gobi Desert daily, only to be repeatedly bullied by Zhou Hu, the village tyrant. By chance, he obtains a mysterious map from an old miner—marking the legendary "ownerless riverbed" where jade could save his mother! But Zhou Hu has long targeted this "prize": he smashes Chen's shack and threatens to cut off his mother's hospital bed. Just as hope fades, Lin Wan, an archaeology student, appears with evidence of Zhou's illegal mining. She proposes a deal: team up to protect the riverbed and expose the truth.
