Intern screenwriter Su Wan volunteers to be top actor Gu Jingshen's temporary assistant to secure the adaptation rights for his autobiography. As they spend days and nights together, the cold and distant Gu Jingshen's defenses crumble under Su Wan's sincerity, and the two quietly fall for each other. Just as Su Wan thinks she can bridge the gap between their identities, Gu Jingshen suddenly disappears, leaving a cruel letter saying, "I never thought about having a future with you." Devastated, Su Wan searches for the truth and discovers Gu Jingshen's hidden ALS medical records—he pushed her away to avoid dragging her down. When she finds the bedridden Gu Jingshen, he can no longer speak but uses all his strength to write "I love you" in her palm. This budding love is ultimately tortured by fate.
