Lin Nian, an intern cultural relic restorer, returns to her Jiangnan hometown to fulfill her grandmother's last wish. She stumbles into a traditional oil-paper umbrella workshop and clashes with Chen Chaosheng, the inheritor labeled a "weirdo" by villagers—she wants to repair her grandma's broken old umbrella, but he insists on "the ancestors' rules" and refuses to let her touch it. When a half-hidden old letter in the umbrella ribs emerges, they uncover a youthful regret between Lin Nian's grandma and Chen Chaosheng's grandpa, which surprisingly mirrors their own budding feelings. Will they miss each other by clinging to rules, or embrace the spring tide of their hearts? An old umbrella connects two generations' unfulfilled stories, and teaches two love-fearing people the courage to "remember" and "surge" again.
