Li Xinglin, a returned architect, is ordered to renovate the old alley that holds his childhood memories, only to clash with Cui Xiaoxuan, who guards her intangible cultural heritage paper-cutting shop like her life. This girl, who sees the old alley as her everything, not only tears up his design but also accuses him of "forgetting his roots." But when he sees her staying up late to make paper lanterns for lonely elders, seeing the softness beneath her toughness; when she discovers his secret of preserving the alley's bluestone paths and old locust trees in his design, seeing the guilt behind his coldness, the two once-opposed souls finally understand each other's初心 of "protection." In the breeze of the old alley, there are unspoken feelings and the answer to "home."
