Lin Xiaoman, a sociable yet penniless young man, survives by freeloading meals. One day, he knocks on Uncle Zhou’s door—hoping for a hot meal—only to find the lonely elderly man dying alone from terminal cancer. Unexpectedly, his family heirloom acupuncture kit falls out, revealing he’s a disciple of a reclusive miracle doctor, who ran away to avoid his legacy. He stabilizes Zhou’s condition with acupuncture, but uncovers the老人’s “death wish”: guilt from a past misunderstanding with his late daughter. As Lin extends Zhou’s life and helps him heal emotionally, this “freeloading” encounter makes him rediscover the true meaning of “healer’s compassion” and face his own avoided responsibilities.
