In a drought-stricken village in North China's Taihang Mountains, villagers have long suffered from water scarcity. A young woman, determined to get clean water for the whole village, ignores neighbors' calls that she is "crazy" and takes the lead to jump off a cliff, carving a life canal on the steep rock. Along the way, a tough Taihang man who loves her deeply sacrifices his life hit by a falling stone while protecting the canal. When sweet canal water finally flows into the village, all villagers who once doubted her kneel down, tears of repentance and reverence streaming down.
