The stubborn and headstrong school beauty Lin Xiaoman never forgets the two steamed buns she owed the school bully Jiang Shubai in childhood. One day, she is forced to be deskmates with Jiang Shubai, a scholar suffering from terminal illness. At first, the two have constant frictions, but they are touched by each other's tenderness in daily life, turning mutual dislike into mutual love and promising to watch the sunrise at the seaside after the college entrance examination. However, before the exam, Jiang Shubai has an accident and falls into a vegetative state. Lin Xiaoman travels to every place he once yearned for with his photo, telling him all the stories, just to wait for his waking day and fulfill the unspoken promise.
