Three Southern guys cram into a shabby rental on the outskirts of Beijing: Ding Lei, a delivery man paying for his mother's medical bills; Li Shixin, a failed entrepreneur labeled a "neet" by his family; and Pi Desheng, a coffee shop apprentice who came to Beijing to win back his ex-girlfriend. By day, they face brutal setbacks: Ding Lei gets splashed with water for a late delivery, Li Shixin’s proposal is stolen by a client, and Pi Desheng is called "worthless" by his ex. At night, they huddle on the balcony eating instant noodles, patting each other’s shoulders and laughing: "No matter how cold the north wind is, our warmth can melt it." When Ding Lei’s mother suddenly needs 200,000 yuan for surgery and they’re desperate for money, they notice the night market downstairs lacks a "Southern snack stall"—they serve their hometown dishes, and surprisingly, it becomes the "night market star." But just as hope emerges, Pi Desheng’s ex asks him to return south, Li Shixin’s family plans to sell their hometown house to pay his debts, and Ding Lei’s mother’s condition worsens… Standing in front of their snack stall, the north wind shakes the signboard, but they clench each other’s hands tightly: "Northbound isn’t about reaching a place—it’s about the fight we’ve shared together."
