When the northern Di tribe invades Dayan's border, retired General Lin Xiaotian, suffering from old wounds, is forced to reenlist. His daughter Lin Wan, who learned martial arts from him since childhood, resolutely disguises herself as a man to take his place. She must hide her gender to survive harsh military training and fight bravely in battles, while forming a bond with the cold Marshal Xiao Jingyao—who has long seen through her disguise but silently protects her.
