In the war-torn Republic of China era, Military Governor Lu Chengyuan, a decisive and powerful warlord, has been plagued by unrelieved bad luck, suffering three straight military defeats. Everything changes when penniless orphan Su Wan stumbles into his life. Miracles follow nonstop: their ammunition depot suddenly receives scarce supplies, the enemy camp is hit by an unexpected flood, and even an assassination attempt narrowly misses him. Wealthy socialite Kang Jiayi, who has long harbored a crush on Lu, repeatedly schemes against Su Wan, only to have her plots foiled by Su's inexplicable good fortune. As Lu and Su grow from mutual suspicion to deep affection, Lu not only eliminates his political rivals and turns the tide of the war, but also wins the heart of his "lucky koi".
