On a snowy night in the border town, Su Wan (Zhong Xiaoqi) endures her fifth winter at the "Gui Ke Ju" Inn, rubbing the silver lock left by her fiancé—he said he'd return after checking the military pay, but her wait has turned into an old calendar on the wall. Gu Zhao (Zhao Junhan), battered and wounded, knocks late at night, a jade pendant engraved with "Wan" in his arms, shattering her peace instantly: he's a spy investigating the missing military pay, chased into the inn; she's a seemingly fragile innkeeper, yet can treat knife wounds with her eyes closed. From mutual testing to hidden affection, when Gu Zhao uncovers the truth, he finds Su Wan's fiancé sacrificed three years ago to protect the people—and he himself is the "little beggar" who was hidden in the cellar by the fiancé and stole the pendant back then. The snow hasn't stopped, but the "homecomer" Su Wan waited for never left—just changed his appearance, stepping back into her lamplight like a fleeting swan.
