Modern office worker Lin Xiaoman is transported into a retro romance strategy game to win a bet, tasked with getting A Rong—the cold-hearted young lord of the Miao borderland—to say "I want to spend the rest of my life with you." But her first trick—pretending to faint to get his attention—backfires: A Rong sees through it and sends her to help the medicine boy. When she tries to give him a sachet, she accidentally hands over one with modern mint candies—A Rong holds the silver wrapper and asks, "Is this a poison from the outside world?" Worse, she discovers A Rong sneaks to a forbidden back mountain every full moon, only to find him bleeding into a glowing ancient tree! It turns out A Rong is the "Spirit Bonded One" guarding the Miao lands, with just three months left to live—and the strategy's condition is "make him give up his guardianship." When a playful task becomes a choice between his life and her "win," Lin Xiaoman realizes she's long replaced "strategy" with "wanting him to survive."
