Zhang Wenfeng, a rigid ancient book restorer, stays in his quiet studio—until Yu Yanling, a feisty reporter, rushes in. She’s looking for her grandfather’s Republic-era diary, only to find it badly damaged. Forced to collaborate, they bicker at first but gradually understand each other: Zhang’s insistence on the “warmth of old paper” and Yu’s search for “family regret” are both hidden in the blurred words. When the last page is restored, it not only reveals the grandfather’s unspoken confession across half a century but also lets the two parallel souls catch their own “short paper, long love.”
