Young forensic trace technician Lin Mo is assigned to the overlooked trace evidence division of the municipal criminal investigation brigade. Veteran detectives mock him for relying too much on textbook knowledge. Three consecutive deaths are ruled as accidents, with crime scenes almost completely cleaned up. Yet Lin Mo spots key clues in tiny paint flecks under a victim's nails and invisible fingerprint dust on stair railings. Facing skepticism from colleagues and secret threats from the killer, he uses his sharp eye for tiny details to solve a string of cold cases and uncover a decade-old grudge behind the murders.
