Lin Yang, an unemployed office worker, raises his 5-year-old daughter Xiaotang alone. He just wants a quiet life in his rental apartment, but Xiaotang's "childish boasting" forces him into an "embarrassing comeback"—Xiaotang tells her kindergarten classmates he's an "inventor who can fix spaceships," and then the kindergarten's electricity goes out; she says he's a "Michelin chef," and a parent potluck happens to need a cook.
