Lin Xiaoman, an emergency nurse, accidentally stumbles into the Underworld mission of Chen Mo—the "Huangquan Rider" (Underworld Soul Courier)—while trying to save a dying 7-year-old boy. Chen Mo, a cold and rigid Underworld enforcer, was supposed to take the boy's soul, but he's shaken by Xiaoman's tearful plea as she holds the boy's medical record: "He still has three chemo sessions left." Their tug-of-war unfolds on the Huangquan Road: Chen Mo blocks her with Underworld rules, while Xiaoman breaks through with human warmth. As memories resurface, Chen Mo recalls: a thousand years ago, he was a general who died protecting Xiaoman, a young healer. This time, he's willing to break the Underworld's laws—to pull light back into the mortal world with her.
