Lin Xiaoman, a workaholic at a design institute, rushes to sign a "fake marriage contract" with Gu Huai, a newly returned architect, to secure the last welfare house. They agree to sleep separately, stay out of each other's lives, and divorce after getting the house. But as fake spouses, they face unexpected parental visits, colleagues' gossip, and even Gu Huai's first love returning. When Xiaoman works overtime late, Gu Huai brings hot porridge; when she's framed for plagiarism, Gu Huai stands up for her. It turns out Gu Huai had long noticed the girl eating buns while revising blueprints—"fake marriage" was just his excuse to get close. When they get the house key, Gu Huai adds Xiaoman's name to the deed, smiling: "The house is the start, and 'forever' is the lifetime we'll share."
