Song Nan joins the top culinary competition "Twelve Golden Dishes" to save her father's old restaurant "Old Lane Kitchen", only to find the judge is Sun Hucheng—her ex who vanished without a word five years ago. During the contest, Sun seems to target her on purpose: he says her Lion's Head lacks "the warmth of home fire", claims her Buddha Jumps Over the Wall has lost "the soul of family heritage", and even accuses her of "stealing the secret recipe" in public. Song is sure he's here to get back at their breakup, but in the final round, she uncovers the truth: Sun's "harshness" is actually to protect her. He left suddenly back then because he found out capitalists wanted to take over "Old Lane Kitchen", and now he's back to guard her last refuge. When Song serves the "Acacia Soup" they cooked together years ago, Sun finally reveals the secret he's hidden for five years—just as the capital behind the competition raises its "knife"...
