Lin Xiaoman has guarded the "Goldfish Hut" at the end of her old alley for a decade, waiting for her childhood friend Chen Mo—they once crouched by the fish tank, promising to set off fireworks "that can float to the clouds" and watch goldfish swim like stars. But what she gets is Chen Mo in a sharp suit, holding a demolition contract to tear down the shop for a commercial district. The old fireworks blueprint is hidden in a glass jar at the bottom of the goldfish tank, still stained with the candy residue from their childhood; and the unposted letter in Chen Mo’s drawer reads, "I came back to turn the fireworks I owed you into the starlight of the whole city." When the demolition team’s excavator rumbles into the alley, Xiaoman stands in front holding the jar, and Chen Mo’s pen hovers over the contract—will he tear down memories for profit, or reignite the fireworks in each other’s lives?
