Su Wan, a female doctor, is forced to marry Gu Zhao—the notorious "Yama of the North"—to save her father. On their wedding night, she trembles behind the curtain with a dagger, only to see the scarred man holding a warm medicine bowl and murmuring, "This is for your cold from the journey—don’t be scared." It turns out Gu Zhao’s "cruelty" is a disguise: he pretended to be ruthless to protect border people, even hiding his chronic illness. Su Wan secretly treats him while helping expose the court’s frame-up. From mutual suspicion to mutual redemption, when Gu Zhao’s secret is revealed and court schemes target the Hou Mansion, can this "fake couple" become each other’s light?
