Rural lad Lin Xiaoman is tricked out of his home by his uncle, left with only his grandfather's sick old ox. Villagers mock him as a "salty fish with an ox." Until he finds his grandfather's eco-farming secret in the ox's collar. Just as he's about to act, the village bully steals the ox and the recipe, spreading rumors he's a "fraud." Lin uses the old ox as a "living proof" of the recipe, outsmarts the bully, and finally breeds "golden cattle" sold to cities, shaming everyone who doubted him. To his surprise, Su Xiaotang, the village doctor who always believed in him, confesses—turns out the old ox is a "double gift" from his grandfather: a way to turn his life around *and* find true love.
