Struggling picture book author Su Xiaotang returns to her coastal hometown for childhood inspiration, where she meets Cheng Yuxu, the mysterious owner of "Dawn Light Bookstore"—he only arranges old books at sunrise and never opens after dusk. Xiaotang finds her lost childhood sketchbook in the store, with supplementary doodles matching Cheng's handwriting. When she presses for the truth, Cheng evades it—until one morning, he shows a faded photo: ten years ago, young Yuxu risked his life to save Xiaotang from the waves, and he's been guarding the bookstore just to wait for the little girl who promised to "paint all dawns."
