Chen Dalei, a rough ex-convict, forces his way into his ex-wife Su Xiao's elite world to fight for custody of their daughter Duoduo—pricking his fingers sewing sequins on a princess dress, staying up all night struggling with Olympiad math problems until his eyes redden, and even confronting old enemies alone to save the kidnapped Duoduo. But when Duoduo jumps into his arms with a perfect exam paper yelling, "Dad is the best!", an old photo falls from his jacket lining—it’s the crime scene where he accidentally hurt someone years ago, protecting Duoduo from a kidnapper. Su Xiao’s hand trembles as she holds the photo: "You never told me... he was here to steal our child?"
