Lin Xiaoman, a lonely office worker, is about to open his apartment door after work when a scraped-up girl named Li Chutang crashes into his arms—clutching his wrist, she pleads, "Brother, they’re forcing me to marry someone!" She shoves an old key with the character "Lin" carved on it into his hand, saying, "Grandpa told me to find you, my 'cousin'." Lin plans to take her to the police, but then he finds an old photo in her wallet: it’s his aunt, who went missing ten years ago, smiling while holding a baby. Things get worse when someone bangs on the door at midnight—a man in a suit says coldly, "Miss Li needs to return to fulfill her engagement with the Chen family." Caught between this unexpected "cousin" and the menacing "Li family steward", Lin is forced to become a "temporary bodyguard". But the more he gets to know Li Chutang, the more he realizes: her stubbornness beneath her cute exterior is exactly like his aunt’s when she rebelled against the family. And behind that key lies the truth about his aunt’s disappearance…
