Yao Wang, a rural volunteer teacher, clings to the old school building that holds memories of her childhood and late mentor, only to meet Feng Xiyao, an architect tasked with village renovation—who sees the old building as “redundant” to demolish. From fierce clashes to trekking mountains together to visit villagers, Yao discovers Feng’s “rationality” hides guilt over left-behind children, while Feng understands Yao’s promise to her late teacher in the old school.
