Xie Ruiyi, who returned to her village to farm, is at the end of her rope due to a drought—until a soft "sister" comes from her millet basket: all her crops have gained sentience! Rice ears wiggle their whiskers to predict the weather, corn cobs wave their stalks to scare away wild boars, and even unsold sweet potatoes "roll" to the county town to attract customers. But just as things improve, a real estate developer plans to bulldoze the fields for a factory. When Ruiyi hugs the millet spirit and guards the ridge, all the crop spirits line up in a tiny formation in front of her—even the village's old ox joins in with a moo… A heartwarming "Battle to Defend the Crop Spirits" turns the rural charm into the sweetest sugar, with the aroma of millet congee floating in the wind.
