Social-anxious illustrator Lin Xiaoman moves to the old town to escape marriage pressure. She rescues an injured kitten and takes it to a pet clinic, only to meet Lu Mingchuan—the vet in a white coat, who turns out to be her new next-door neighbor. From then on, the kitten keeps sneaking into Xiaoman’s home, forcing Lu to visit frequently to “retrieve” it. Their interactions shift from awkward to warm: Lu helps Xiaoman find inspiration by watching stray cats; Xiaoman leaves ginger tea outside Lu’s door when he’s feverish from a night shift. Just as their bond deepens, Xiaoman sees Lu with a girl holding his arm—turns out it’s his sister back from abroad! After clearing the misunderstanding, Lu confesses at Xiaoman’s illustration show with walls of cat-themed paintings: “My heart followed the cat to you long ago.”
