Zhang Chi, a "caged bird" in the financial circle, is under house arrest for holding evidence of his boss's money laundering. Just as he plans to give in, he reunites with Yu Yin, an investigative journalist on the case—his childhood sweetheart whom he once coldly rejected. Yu Yin's persistence tears away his pretense of "being content in the cage." While fleeing from pursuers, they uncover the capital's dark secrets and confront the love they lost due to a misunderstanding years ago. When the last cage door is blown apart, Zhang Chi finally understands: the real cage is never external chains, but his own cowardice of not daring to spread his wings.
