But when Zhao Muyan, a sharp developer representative, arrives with a demolition contract, Wang Xuan is shattered to find Liu Jiacheng working with her. Zhao Muyan plans to finish quickly, until she stumbles on a yellowed ledger: twenty years ago, Wang Xuan’s grandfather paid her mother’s medical bills, leaving a note: "No need to repay." As excavators roll over the alley’s sycamore, Wang Xuan stands guard with his grandfather’s old mahjong tiles. Zhao Muyan’s pen hovers over the demolition order, and Liu Jiacheng’s phone rings—Uncle Zhang, a regular who once helped him, has fallen. Their choices, bathed in the parlor’s warm light, slowly tear through the facade of "profit."
