Quan Rui, an art gallery curator, must retrieve the "Time Capsule" photo series by wandering photographer Wei Tianhao to fulfill her late mentor's last wish—it's an "on-time promise" between her mentor and an old friend. But Wei, burdened by the regret of missing a friend's appointment years ago, has quit photography and refuses to revisit the past. Quan sticks to him through cities and wilderness, and their relationship shifts from friction to affection: she understands his "escape" is fear of facing regret, while he sees her "punctuality" as devotion to promises. When the old photos finally hang in the gallery, they realize—this "on-time promise" across years is actually a fated "heartfelt encounter" meant for them.
