Cheng Yufeng, an investment bank elite, gets drunk by the river late at night and is encountered by Yu Yilei, an insomniac psychologist—he has just been suspended for reporting his company’s financial fraud and received anonymous death threats; she has relied on sleeping pills every night for two years, haunted by a patient’s suicide. Bound by “midnight,” Yu helps Cheng navigate his anxiety, only to discover the threat against him is linked to her late patient; as Cheng investigates the fraud, he also uncovers Yu’s two-year-old self-blame hidden beneath her “healer” facade. When workplace darkness intertwines with old emotional scars, can these two “sinking souls” in the night pull each other up to the surface?
