Restorer Dai Qixuan breaks into the rumored "forbidden to the living" ancient market to find her missing master, only to be stopped by Cheng Yue, the market's keeper—this man holding a broken tile cat claims the tile cats here can "summon souls" and that her master should have been buried in the market long ago. But Dai finds her master's notebook, with the last page drawing a tile cat with the same patterns as Cheng's, accompanied by a note: "What I owed him back then, it's time to repay." When the tile cats in the market start moving at midnight and Cheng finally reveals the truth that he "trapped" his best friend in the market twenty years ago, Dai realizes: what she's looking for isn't her master, but the "unfinished business" between two men spanning two decades; and what Cheng's guarding is never the market, but the self he's afraid to face. An adventure about "letting go" begins with the meow of the tile cat.
