Thirty-year-old Lin Xiaoman is just “optimized” out of her internet company when she catches her boyfriend cheating. Desperate, she returns to her hometown’s tea mountain, only to find her grandfather’s old tea garden is about to be bulldozed for a developer’s project—and her grandfather is bedridden over it. Chen Mo, the former “wild boy” from her childhood who’s now an agricultural technician, offers to help her convince the developer with an ecological tea transformation plan. They spend days testing soil across the mountains and nights working on the plan, only to face repeated challenges from the developer and even sabotage of their tea seedlings. On the dawn when the last batch of old tea trees are to be uprooted, Lin stands in front of the excavator holding the ecological report she made overnight—when Chen arrives with a cooperation call from the developer. It turns out he secretly got backing from a city organic tea brand. In guarding the tea garden, Lin finds the “courage to live” that’s more important than any workplace KPI.
