Shen Xingdu, an ignored illegitimate son of the Marquis Mansion, lost his mother early and learned to hide his sharpness to stay out of trouble. He spends his days pretending to be sick, hoping to live peacefully until adulthood. But when he takes a poisoned drink for his legitimate brother by accident, revealing a bit of his skills, the old lady sees him as a "modest good grandson"; his legitimate sister, whom he once helped, sends him tonics voluntarily; even the cold Marquis secretly checks his homework. The little slacker who wanted to lie low suddenly becomes the family's treasure—his hidden storybooks are even replaced by top-quality jade brushes. Shen Xingdu pulls his hair in distress: "I just wanted to slack off!"
