Zhi Chunhe, the leading performer of the Pear Garden, almost loses her voice due to a recurring old injury. Li Shijiao, the son of a military general, is forced to agree to a family marriage to obtain a cure. When Chunhe coughs up blood on stage, the crumpled prescription and marriage certificate hidden in Li Shijiao's sleeve fall out at the same time—he never betrayed her; he just swallowed all his grievances. But just as they are about to resolve their misunderstanding, an anonymous report targeting the Pear Garden is suddenly sent to the government. Chunhe is accused of “violating public morals” and faces expulsion from the city, while Li Shijiao’s military power is revoked by the emperor. Can this couple keep their “Pear Orchard Promise” amid worldly shackles and conspiracies?
