Lin Wan has been guarding the "Thorny Rose Homestay" by the sea for three years, using a fishhook wrapped in rose thorns to keep everyone at bay—that was the last keepsake of her lover Aze, who went missing at sea. Until backpacker Lu Shen knocks on the door, saying he’s looking for "the fishhook a boy and a girl promised to use to fish for the sunrise three years ago." It turns out Lu Shen is Aze’s childhood friend; the fishhook was his "courage gift" to Aze, but Aze never got to use it to apologize: three years prior, they fought, and Lin Wan said his love was "too fragile without thorns."
