Lu Zhao, the most notorious prodigal heir in the capital, pretends to be a dissolute playboy frequenting brothels, but secretly investigates the truth behind his family's massacre a decade ago at night. A drunken mistake leads him to break into the censor's mansion, where he meets Su Wan, a newly appointed female censor—she holds evidence of corruption that points to Lu Zhao's seemingly kind stepmother! The "good-for-nothing heir" and the "impartial censor" start as bickering foes, then are forced to team up to unmask the stepmother's hypocrisy. Lu Zhao's hidden schemes and deep affection gradually emerge, while Su Wan sees his responsibility beneath the "prodigal" facade. When family hatred and court intrigue intertwine, can their love survive the sharp edge of truth?
