Gu Zhao, the most notorious prodigal in the capital, spends his days in brothels and cockfights—yet no one knows he hides a bloodstained letter: the truth about his family’s wrongful execution a decade ago, which he’s kept close for ten years. Until Su Wan, a female constable, arrives with an imperial edict to “monitor” his “misdeeds.” Thus begins their battle of wits: he feigns ignorance to avoid investigation, she sees through his act with sharp eyes. But when Gu Zhao hits a dead end in his case, Su Wan secretly hands him key evidence; when Su Wan is framed and jailed, Gu Zhao shows his ruthless side for the first time, wielding a knife to break into the Ministry of Punishments… Turns out the most deceptive prodigal has long hidden his heart in “nonsense,” and the coldest constable has quietly given her softness to the “unreliable” him.
