Rural girl Ruyi travels alone to Myanmar to ask her cousin (a jade businessman) for help raising money for her father’s medical bills, only to be tricked into a ruthless jade mine as a coolie. In desperation, she uses jade-identifying skills taught by her late mother to pick out a high-ice jadeite—mistaken for worthless slag—from the mine waste. Just as she plans to sell the jade to save her father, the mine owner tries to seize it by force. Meanwhile, A Kun, a local young man who has been helping her, suddenly reveals himself as the heir to a jade family—the jade is exactly their stolen family heirloom from years ago. Ruyi must protect the jade to save her father and unravel the grudges of A Kun’s family. A battle of jade, lies, and redemption quietly unfolds in Myanmar’s jade market.
