Lin Xiaoman, a young woman from a Nuo opera troupe, returns to her hometown in western Hunan to find her missing grandfather, only to encounter Chen Mo, a mysterious man playing the drum for the long-lost "Soul-Returning Nuo" on an abandoned stage.
