Meng Huan, a fresh graduate scraping money for an illustration class, rents an attic in the old town—only to find her landlord is Lin Kehan, a cold, reclusive failed entrepreneur. Sharing the roof, they’re like porcupines with spines up: Meng hides her sketchbook, drawing late on the balcony; Lin clutches debt texts, smoking till dawn in the living room. Their armor cracks when Meng faints after overtime, and Lin rushes her to the hospital, exposing each other’s “strength” as a facade. Just as they start healing together, debt collectors bang on the door and the illustration class scams her tuition. Can they hold onto the racing heartbeat under the leaky eave?
