Lin Xiaoman, an ordinary office worker, picks up a white cat named Azhao at midnight who claims to be a "down-and-out god". Azhao says he can only regain his divine power by collecting her "sincere smiles". To get rid of this clingy cat, Xiaoman is forced to start a "smile plan": taking it to eat sausage, watching old movies with it, even leaving it a small cake at her desk when working overtime.
