Former anti-drug cop Lin Shen (played by Ma Haodong) was wrongfully accused of bribery over an informant's death and forced to leave the police force. To uncover the truth, he 'fell' into the underground world, becoming an information broker who walks the gray line—on the surface, he fraternizes with gangsters and makes shady deals, but secretly uses dark methods to gather evidence of his past injustice. Su Xiaotang (played by Li Shengxuan), a newly graduated prosecutor, is ordered to investigate him. However, in their confrontations, she discovers his hidden goodness: he redeems a mother driven to despair by creditors, takes care of the orphaned child of an informant killed by the gang. Behind those 'shady' deals lies an unextinguished flame of justice. Just as Su Xiaotang decides to stand with him to clear his name, the mastermind from years ago suddenly emerges, determined to snuff out their 'light' completely...
