Lin Shu, a retired commoner martial arts master, is forced to return to the capital to find his old friend Xiao Ce, the national guardian general, as the war in the northern frontier reignites. However, upon entering the city gate, he witnesses Xiao Ce being framed for collaborating with the enemy and thrown into prison.
