Returned architect Huang Wenbo is determined to demolish the Moon Laurel Ancestral Hall in the old town to build a commercial building, fulfilling his mother's last wish. However, he encounters Yu Yutong, a cultural relic restorer guarding the hall—the "moon girl" he secretly drew in the hall during his school days. Yu uses the moonlight diary and old sketches found in the hall's cracks to gradually uncover Huang's unresolved childhood trauma: when his parents divorced, he hid in the hall crying, and it was little Tong who held osmanthus cake and said, "The moon will hide our sorrows." The "moon girl" he drew was exactly her. On the eve of the demolition order, Huang holds the old sketchbook Yu hands him and realizes: what he wanted to demolish was never the old building, but the missing piece of moonlight in his heart; and what Yu wanted to guard was never the hall, but the boy forgotten by the moonlight…
