Gu Zhao, the most notorious playboy in the Great Chu, is ordered to marry Princess Chu Ling, the kingdom's revered protector. After marriage, he spends his days in brothels and taverns, living an aimless life, so the princess sees him as a "hopeless loser"—the couple is practically strangers. But when Northern cavalry suddenly invades and the imperial jade seal is stolen, Gu Zhao secretly leaves the palace at night disguised as a black-clad swordsman—using the 100-year-lost "Fulong Spear Technique" to repel the enemy vanguard alone, and uncovering traitors via his spy network that spans the court and countryside. It turns out he's the "State-Protecting Dark Guard Leader" secretly appointed by the late emperor on his deathbed! When Chu Ling discovers her husband's "cowardly" facade, and the hidden enemy's plot targets the royal foundation, can this "nominal couple" put aside their prejudices to guard their country—and each other—amid swords and shadows?
