Lin Chuan, a lazy mountain Taoist, picks up the seriously injured girl A Zhao and takes her as his apprentice. Their days are chaotic—he dodges her "special training" and stops her from secretly investigating her enemies. Until imperial guards kick open the Taoist temple door, Lin Chuan realizes: his apprentice is the reborn empress who was killed by traitors, back to overthrow the royal power. But when A Zhao raises her sword at her old enemies, Lin Chuan stands under the city wall with osmanthus cake: "Before being empress, finish your morning lessons!" Between the blood feud of the imperial path and the warm师徒 bond, A Zhao's choice becomes the sweetest thorn.
