Lin Shen, the former underground gun king of Southeast Asia, was betrayed by his confidant and killed in an explosion. He wakes up reborn in 1988 in a village in Pengcheng—the "golden starting point" where he once rose to power. Now a debt-ridden nobody, he accidentally saves Su Xiaotang, a college student forced by gangsters to sell alcohol. But he uncovers the root of his past death: his "best brother" who betrayed him is still nearby, and Su Xiaotang’s father is the arms dealer who wanted him dead in his previous life. Torn between avenging his fate and protecting the woman he’s fallen for, holding the first homemade pistol from an old warehouse, will Lin Shen become the rule-maker of the golden era, or a普通人 (ordinary person) who lays down his gun for love?
