Childhood sweethearts Lin Xiaotang and Chen Mo, post-80s kids raised in an old lane, one chasing her art school dream by painting the old town, the other determined to lift his family out of poverty through business. But when Chen's father was laid off and fell seriously ill, Chen dropped out to sell tapes and distanced himself from Xiaotang to avoid being a burden. Xiaotang secretly put her painting earnings into his tape box, only to be mistaken for "charity." A decade later, Chen becomes a supermarket chain owner, while Xiaotang is a famous painter focused on "old lanes." They reunite at an art exhibition—inside the display case, the painting *The Boy’s Tape Box* holds the unspoken feelings of the past, and the entire post-80s generation’s answer to "persistence" and "missed chances" in their youth.
