Lin Xiaoman, a modern office worker who died of overwork, time-travels to become the neglected Imperial Concubine Shen in the Daqi Dynasty. Once in the palace, her only goal is to laze around, avoiding all court scheming and concubinage struggles—she wants nothing more than to hide in the cold palace, eating cold cakes and teasing small fish. But the cunning Emperor takes notice of this unique “useless” consort, deliberately “running into” her frequently. Under the pretext of “abiding by fate”, he thwarts her laze plans, even renovates the cold palace into her desired “lazy courtyard”. As Lin deals with palace rumors and intrigues while outwitting the emperor, their bumpy yet sweet courtship unfolds.
